"Madame Butterfly" 1982, New York City Opera production. Aired on "Live at Lincoln Center" PBS Broadcast; Original Costume sketch by Lloyd Evans (1934-1989); gouache and pencil on card stock; 11 1/4" x 15". One of a kind.. Mr. Evans's association with the City Opera began in 1966 with a production of ''Il Barbiere di Siviglia,'' and continued through the 1970's with designs for ''Madama Butterfly,'' ''Pelleas et Melisande,'' ''Ariadne auf Naxos'' and other productions. Mr. Evans won an Emmy Award in 1979 for designs for the CBS soap opera"Love of Life" and as art director for"As the World Turns" Mr. Evans was born in Mount Morris, Mich., and attended the University of Michigan. After military service in Japan, where he was introduced to stage design, he studied at the Yale School of Drama.
